Interview #5 - Wendy Piersall - eMomsAtHome.com

Wendy Piersall is up next speaking on personal branding, blogging and home based business. Enjoy!

1. For those of us who are unfamiliar with you, could you briefly describe who you are and what you do?

I started and write for the most popular blog on the internet dedicated to home business - This is my third home based business

2. How and why did you get started in launching your blog?

I started it on a whim to document the learning process as I started up a different dot com - but the blog quickly became more popular and I ended the other business to focus on what was working!

3. What have you learned so far that you wish you knew when you first started out?

I didn’t know it takes so long to generate a decent income via online sources - but had I known that I probably wouldn’t have stuck it out for as long as I have. ;)

4. How important do you consider your blog to be for creating your personal brand? Was this your main motivation in creating your blog?

Critical - the blog has launched a career, including getting ‘discovered’ by Entrepreneur.com (I now write for them too). It wasn’t my main motivation for starting it, but it is my main motivation for continuing it.

5. What techniques have you found to be most effective in promoting your blog?

Building relationships with other bloggers and businesses online - nothing else is more important.

6. What has been your most rewarding experience to date?(a reader experience, getting Dugg, etc.)

Writing The Biggest Blog Post of My Life

7. What is the best thing about what you do?

Knowing I’m helping a lot of people.

8. What is the one piece of advice you can give to future eMoms who are considering starting a home-based business?

All you need to be successful in business is a passion for what you do and an unending willingness to learn and grow - as long as you keep at it, keep asking for help, and keep educating yourself, you can make it (a healthy dose of patience, faith, and a willingness to go outside of your comfort zone will move things along faster, too!).

Thanks Wendy! I’m sure many of many of your readers find your story inspiring; I know I do :)
